Peaches

I started making baby food for Keegan today. He is not quite 4 months old and won't need it for another two months, but peaches are in season and they had some beautiful ones at the farmer's market today.

I really enjoyed making Ronan's food and seeing his reactions to all the new flavours and textures, and I can't wait to do it all again.

I simply peeled, pitted, and chopped up 6 peaches, covered them with water. Once the water was boiling, I covered the pot, reduced heat, and simmered for 10 minutes, until they were soft. Then I got out my handy immersion blender, and pureed it. I poured it into ice cube trays, covered them with wax paper, and popped it in the freezer. When they are fully frozen, I will take them out of the trays and put them into Ziploc bags and then back into the freezer.

When I was making Ronan's food, I went through 3 blenders and a food processor before getting an immersion blender and funnily enough, it was the cheapest out of the bunch, and the only one able to handle what I need it to!

Day Out with Thomas

We had friends come in from Pickering this weekend so we could take the kids to Day Out with Thomas. We both have 2 year old boys (three weeks apart) and baby boys (1 month apart) so it works out really well for the kids.

They came on Saturday night and the boys played hard and stayed up late, then woke up early to play more. We packed them up in the car to head to St. Thomas, where they got to go for a ride on Thomas the Tank Engine, meet Sir Topham Hat, and have tons of fun! When Ronan first saw Thomas, he was speechless! He just stood there with his hands up against the fence with wide eyes, staring up at his hero. When we were riding the train, he was just looking out the window, completely fascinated.

He got a James tattoo, watched a musician, had story time, and saw model trains. Just before we left, we went to get our picture taken with Thomas and it was so hard to get Ronan to look at the camera, because he was turned around pointing at Thomas.

He passed out on the way home and slept for three hours straight! Pretty good for a kid who hardly naps anymore.

Today was probably the highlight of his life and it was so worth it!
