We had a very busy, but very fun weekend. It started out on Saturday when we had a playdate with a few friends. Sammie and her 16 month old, Erik, and Lori and her almost 2 year old, Caiden came over for a fun filled morning of play. We were originally planning on going to the wading pool with the boys, but it was a little too chilly that morning.
Lori and Caiden stayed until around 11 and Sammie and Erik stayed for lunch. After lunch, my 4 year old nephew James came over for a few hours. He is having a visit with Nana and she had some errands to run, and we loved having him. He and Ronan are such good buddies, and he has a new baby sister, Kennedy, so Keegan will have someone to play with as he gets older!
Sunday, we had a quiet day after our crazy Saturday, especially because we had another busy day on Monday. Kevin's grandparents and great aunt and uncle live in Sarnia, and even though it's only an hour away, we don't get out to see them as often as we should. The last time we saw them was at Ronan's birthday party and Keegan was only a week old!
We got there around 11 and stayed for lunch and had a wonderful visit for the afternoon. Ronan was playing a little shy when we first got there, but he warmed up after a few minutes. We left around 4 and Aunt Anne sent us home with some her yummy butter tarts and lemon tarts. (I'm surprised they aren't all gone yet!)
After we left Sarnia, we headed over to Vallerye's house for dinner to celebrate Kevin's birthday. (It's today, but he has baseball tonight.) We had a delicious steak dinner, and we got to spend a little bit more time with James before he goes home on Wednesday.
I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures of the weekend, so I have to make sure I remember next time!
The boys are still sleeping, so I am off to enjoy a quiet cup of tea! Oh and Happy Birthday Kevin!

Doctors Appointments
This morning, both boys had Drs appointments. Keegan had his 4 month check up and we had some questions about Ronan's speech (or lack there of.)
Our Dr's office is about a 5 minute drive, so we left at 9:15 for or 9:30 appointment time. We get to the office and they tell us that our doctor has moved and that someone should have called us. (Shoulda, woulda, coulda) I asked her if we would still have an appointment and she wasn't sure. The new office was only a few minutes away, but we were cutting it close. We get there, and its paid parking, so I parked in the lot next door as I didn't have any cash. We get up to the office, and of course, they don't have us written down for an appointment, but they fit us in anyway. If I didn't really like this Dr, that would have been the last straw! Luckily, this location is only temporary and the new place will be really nice and have free parking!
We finally get in to see her, and because she just moved in on Monday, she doesn't have her infant scale set up, and she doesn't have any needles, so Keegan couldn't be weighed or get his shots. She did check everything else though, and says he is perfect and to come back in 2 weeks to get weighed and pricked. We asked her if we could redo his blood work to see if his levels were still normal from the thyroid issue they thought he had a birth. There was a blood lab downstairs so we did that right away. Keegan was smiling and laughing the whole time they were drawing blood.
As for Ronan, she thinks he is just a late talker and that it may be related to his tongue tie, but she has referred us to a pediatrician to make sure there are no bigger issues at play.
So that was our day. I am off to make meatloaf wellington for dinner (new recipe.)

Lazy Days
We've had a quiet few days around here. Keegan is still sleeping through the night, and he rolled over! We've been to the park, and been swimming, but that's pretty much it. Yesterday, I made Keegan some carrots to freeze, and I found a recipe for Smore Bars, so I am going to try to make those soon.
We also got Keegan an exersaucer, and he loves it! Of course, Ronan loves it too!
Not much else to report, we have a pretty busy week coming up. We are going swimming at a friend's house tomorrow, doctors appointments on Wednesday, wading pool with our playgroup on Thursday, and wading pool again (with a friend) on Saturday. Can you tell Ronan loves the water?
Here are some pictures from the past few days!

Sleeping through the night
He finally did it! Keegan has been sleeping through the night for 3 days straight now. After the first 2 nights, I decided to move him into his crib. I was hesitant to do this, because now the boys are officially sharing a room. I was picturing Ronan waking Keegan up for 2am dance parties, getting up to look at him and hopping into the crib, or worse, trying to pull Keegan out! None of that happened last night. Because Ronan goes to bed earlier, and wakes up later, there is a good chance that he isn't going to realize his brother is in there for a while.
Now lets hope this sleeping through the night thing isn't a fluke, and he keeps it up!

Fun with Play Dough
Yesterday, Ronan and I decided to make Play Dough. I have never made it before, but it seemed pretty easy, so I thought we would give it a try. It was probably the easiest thing I have ever made, though, next time, I will wear rubber gloves when adding the food colouring!
Play Dough
- 1 cup salt
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp cream of tartar
- 1.5 cups boiling water
Knead until smooth
Break into chunks and add food colouring

Peaches
I started making baby food for Keegan today. He is not quite 4 months old and won't need it for another two months, but peaches are in season and they had some beautiful ones at the farmer's market today.
I really enjoyed making Ronan's food and seeing his reactions to all the new flavours and textures, and I can't wait to do it all again.
I simply peeled, pitted, and chopped up 6 peaches, covered them with water. Once the water was boiling, I covered the pot, reduced heat, and simmered for 10 minutes, until they were soft. Then I got out my handy immersion blender, and pureed it. I poured it into ice cube trays, covered them with wax paper, and popped it in the freezer. When they are fully frozen, I will take them out of the trays and put them into Ziploc bags and then back into the freezer.
When I was making Ronan's food, I went through 3 blenders and a food processor before getting an immersion blender and funnily enough, it was the cheapest out of the bunch, and the only one able to handle what I need it to!
